Brownsville Baptist Church has been recognized across the Southern Baptist
Convention as a giving, mission-minded church that puts missions first.
From the specific budget items of giving to the promotion of schools and
homes for children in Central America, the members of this congregation are
concerned about seeing the gospel of Jesus Christ preached to the nations.
One of the highlights of the past few years has been the promotion of a
Hispanic ministry in western Tennessee for the hundreds of Hispanics who
come to this area for seasonal as well as permanent employment. The
church underwrote the founding of a local Hispanic Church and is still
assisting in the financial burdens the young congregation has experienced.
For several years, the local church worked in association with the Hispanic
ministry to operate a local Hispanic radio station that specialized in
Christian music and preaching the gospel entirely in the Spanish language. From our congregation have come numerous foreign missionaries who have served from Hong Kong, Europe, Vietnam, Taiwan, Philippines and to Central African Republics. We provide a missionary home for returning missionaries from the fields on their furloughs. Missions has been the major emphasis of our growth program from top to bottom with the founding of Calvary Baptist Church, Poplar Corner Baptist Church, Community Baptist Church, and the local Hispanic congregations from our membership. Soon on this website, we will be adding newsletters from our missionaries located in West Africa, who recently held a missions conference in our church. Join us and periodically read the latest news from the missions front.
